beautiful country of Slovenia has something for everyone. A
diverse country, situated just below Austria, it is famous
for its ski region in the North West and its fairytale
lake - Lake Bled. Slovenia's capital town Ljubljana is
a vibrant modern city and its surrounding countryside is
fast gaining a reputation for producing excellent wines.

Slovenia nestles
in the heart of Europe, bordered by Italy, Austria, Hungary
and Croatia. Roughly the size of Wales, half the size of
Switzerland, Slovenia is certainly full of the most picturesque
surprises, making a great all year round destination and
offering a geographical diversity surely envied by many more
sizeable countries. Packed into a modest 21,000 square kilometres,
forty percent of the country is mountainous with three major
mountain groups: The Julian Alps, the Kamniske-Savinja Alps
and the Karavanke mountains. The rest of the country
comprises sub-alpine hills, Karst plateaus, forests,
vineyards, rivers, caves and of course 47km of
coastline facing the Adriatic.
Ljubljana Most visitors begin their visit to Slovenia in the capital city having flown to Brnik airport which is 23km to the north. Ljubljana is a sophisticated city being the political, cultural, and commercial hub of the country. The architectural blend of baroque and Habsburg in the old town together with numerous cafes and restaurants make this area a tourist magnet.
The Julian Alps rest between the River Soca and the River Sava. The majestic peaks, lakes and gorges make this Slovenia's prime hiking, skiing, golfing and camping region. The Triglav National Park embraces almost the entire Slovene section of the Julian alps and includes Slovenia's highest mountain - Mount Triglav. .
Two picturesque lakes bejewel
the Julian Alps Lake
Bled and Lake Bohinj Lake Bled is one of the
country's more popular destinations, offering a
fairytale experience complete with island church and
splendiferous castle.
Lake Bohinj is the largest body
of water in Slovenia and is the pearl of the Alpine
lakes. Both lakes present endless opportunities for
numerous activities, including rafting, cycling,
hydrospeed, canoeing, kayaking, swimming and
riding to name but a few.
Kranjska
Gora is located in the northern part of the
Julian Alps and attracts mainly winter visitors for the
skiing, dog-sledding, snowmobiling and night
descents from Mount Vrsic. However, in the summer
months the region is an excellent centre for hiking,
cycling, horseback riding, paragliding and fishing.
There are many hotels and restaurants, plus a 24 hour
casino which offers a touch of glamour.
