There are a fantastic variety of resorts from which to choose, offering their own special character and getting out-and-about in Cyprus gives you the chance to see some of the contrasting areas of the island that makes this such a unique destination.
- Larnaca • Paphos • Famagusta • Ayia Napa • Limassol • Protaras
Larnace -
is the oldest living city of Cyprus and is situated on the South East
Coast, with it's dark sandy beaches and clear waters it has become a very
popular resort amongst British tourists. It has a typical Mediterranean climate
with hot summers and mild winters, making it a fantastic all year round
destination, and with a population of only 62,000 Larnaca has managed to
retain a relaxed, leisurely atmosphere. A wide range of activities are
available such as, water sports, diving, golf, hiking and mountain biking. This
resort is an excellent base for exploring the nearby islands of Pervolia, Ayia
Napa, Protaras and Paralimni, which can all be easily reached via the local
bus service or private taxis. Larnaca's famous palm-lined promenade is
great for shopping and has many tavernas, cafes and restaurants which offer
both traditional and international cuisine. Larnaca is a family orientated
resort with something for everyone.
Paphos - situated on the south
east coast of Cyprus was the capital of the island in
Roman times, and dates from 1400 BC.
Legend has it that the city was built on the
spot where the Greek Goddess of Love,
Aphrodite, was born. Shoppers will enjoy
exploring the many shops and markets in
Paphos. Tavernas and restaurants are
plentiful and offer a mix of Mediterranean
and international cuisine and there is also
a vibrant nightlife at the local bars and
discos. Tours are available to many
interesting archaeological sites, such as
the Tombs of the Kings, the Baths of Aphrodite with it's fountain of Love and
Aphrodite's birthplace. Walking is a nice way to explore the sights in the town
but for the less energetic , taxis are widely available and local buses operate
between most major towns in Cyprus. Car hire is a great way to explore
Paphos, the surrounding countryside and the other nearby resorts of Polis,
Latchi, Limassol and Pissouri. Paphos is a spectacular all year round
destination with something to offer the whole family.
Limassol -
is a lively, cosmopolitan, all year round
resort with dark golden sand/ shingle beaches
stretching along the beautiful coastline. There is an
ample choice of disco's, bars and clubs that stay
open until the early hours as well as traditional
Cypriot entertainment. Whether you are looking for a
quiet or lively atmosphere in the evenings , you are
sure to find what you are looking for in Limassol.
Shopping here is varied and interesting and there are
some elegant and modern boutiques where you can
buy designer outfits without the large price tag. You
can watch the ships roll in from all over the world at
the busy harbour or take a visit to the 12th century
castle, where Richard the Lionheart is said to have
married.
Protaras -
is a tranquil, family orientated resort offering some of the finest sandy beaches
in Cyprus, the most famous being Fig Tree Bay. The main
beach at Protaras offers a vast range of water sports
opportunities and equipment hire, from paddle boats
to jet skis and caters particularly well for children. The
majority of visitors enjoy a stroll along the cliff tops of
the coastline, particularly in spring when the
landscape is covered in wild flowers. If you are more
adventurous then you can hike up the steep crag on
the outskirts of the resort to Ayios Llias Church from
where there is a spectacular view of the island.

traditional and international cuisine and the nightlife

- Famagusta -
is a city that lies on the east coast in a bay between Capes
Greco and Eloea and possesses the deepest harbour in Cyprus;
it is also one of the most important, greatly fortified ports
on the shores of the Mediterranean. Ideal climatic conditions
make it possible for water lovers to enjoy swimming for about
eight months in a year. in fact, most European visitors take
the advantage of the wonderful climatic conditions and not
only swim all year round but also enjoy various water sports
activities including sailing, snorkeling, windsurfing, water
skiing etc. There are also quiet coves and sandy bays scattered
around the island and the town's market in Old Paphos , where
many historical sites intermingle with the modern part of town.
The new town is where you will find the harbour with it's inviting
tavernas, fish restaurants, clubs and bars.
