Location Guide ~ Innsbruck's Olympic Ski World in Austria
Nestling at the foot of the Alps, Innsbruck's Olympic Ski World offers
eight ski areas and twenty-five village resorts. With 270kms of
downhill runs, 76 ski lifts and extensive snowmaking equipment,
Innsbruck has earned the reputation of the winter sports capital.
Home to the Winter Olympics on two occasions, the varied ski-able
terrain, back country terrain with deep powder stashes and the snow
board parks are kept in peak condition at all times. Although Innsbruck and its surrounding areas are most famous for winter
sports; it is also a great summer destination. Whether you prefer to climb
the spectacular mountain peaks or relax on the alpine golf courses
Innsbruck offers activities for everyone. Other summer activities include
climbing trails, tennis courts, mountain biking, paragliding, hand
gliding, tandem parachuting, white water rafting and aerial tours
over the Alps in a small sports plane. Innsbruck also boasts the
only summer toboggan run in Europe on the Olympic bobsled
run.

Patscherkofel The
renowned Olympicmountain of Patscherkofel is the perfect
yearround holiday destination.
With
its gentle beginner slopes to the more difficult expert ski
runs in the winter and swimming at Lake Lansersee or horse
riding through the mountains during the summer. Extensive
snow making techniques are used to keep the tracks and
trails in the top condition. The
stunning views from the top of
Patscherkofel will take your
breath away whatever the
season. Activities include freeguided
hiking tours, tennis,
mountain biking, summer
tobogganing, beach volleyball,
paragliding, golf, horse riding,
walking trails, spa centre,
swimming and a golf driving
range. During the winter activities
include alpine skiing, curling,
tobogganing, snow boarding, ice-skating, snowshoeing
and Nordic skiing.
Stubaier
Gletscher The award
winning Stubai glacier
is Austria's largest year-round skiing area with
guaranteed snow from October to July thanks to its
elevation of between 1750m to 3200m. With 110kms of
runs varying from beginner to the double black diamond
runs and 5 gondolas, 3 six-seater chairlifts, 1 four-seater
chairlift, 4 two-seater chairlifts and 9 t-bar/beginners
lifts
waiting to whisk you up into the mountains for a magical
time. The Stubai also enjoys a terrain park for snow
boarders, two permanent race courses, a downhill run
with timing facilities, a tubing chute, a 4.5km crosscountry
skiing trail and an ice climbing tower.
Schlick 2000 The Schlick ski resort is located high above the
resorts of Fulpmes and Tulfes in the impressive Kalkkogel
mountains known as the "Dolomites of the Austrian Tyrol." The
resort boasts 14km of immaculately groomed slopes, a sixseater
gondola, a four-seater chair lift, and six surface lifts and
is snow sure from December through to April.
Nordpark Seegrube Located at an elevation of 1905m,
Nordpark Seegrube caters to all levels of skiers. Take the
Nordkettenbahn Cable way from Nordpark Seegrube all the way
up to the Hafelekar Top Terminal at 2334m and enjoy the
breathtaking panoramic views of the Zillertal, Stubai and Otztal
Alps. Activities include skiing, snow boarding, ski touring, hiking,
climbing, biking, paragliding and hand gliding.
Rangger Kopel The traditional village of Rangger Kopel is located far from the main road, in the midst of unspoiled nature. The famous ski areas of Kuhtai, Axamer Lizum and Innsbruck are all within easy reach, while the Rannger Kopfl family ski area is only a few kilometres away. Activities include asphalt/ alpine curling, ice skating, cycling, hunting and hiking.
Kuhtai At an altitude of 2020 metres, Kuhtai is Austria's highest Winter sports resort and the season runs from the beginning of December until well into the Spring with the highest quality skiing throughout. The range of activities available mean you will never be bored! Activities include alpine skiing, canoeing, cycling, paragliding, climbing, mountain biking, rafting, tobogganing, snowshoeing, Nordic skiing, hiking, snow boarding and Nordic running and walking. Kuhtai also boast's learn-to-ski programs, ski kindergartens, and special facilities tailored to the needs of children, making it a favourite destination for families.
Gotzens Situated in the heart of the Austrian Tyrol, only 7km from Innsbruck, is the beautiful village of Gotzens. Sports include alpine skiing, ice skating, winter walking, horse-drawn sleigh rides, night tobogganing, torchlight hikes, fishing, curling, beach volleyball, canoeing, hand gliding, cycling, parachuting, paragliding, bowling, climbing, rafting, horseback riding, swimming, Nordic skiing, tennis, snow boarding and mountain biking.
